An elderly resident of Garbutt Close in Shildon is appealing for the return of much loved garden ornaments which were stolen from his property overnight on Sunday. They included a garden gnome, a figurine and a plastic dog.
“My wife is no longer able to leave the home, so we have tried to make the garden as nice as we can for her. So it’s very upsetting for us that someone has come into our garden and taken away the things that give her pleasure.”
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “Police were called on Tuesday afternoon to reports of a theft of garden ornaments from Garbutt Close in Shildon. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime overnight between Sunday (July 2) and Monday (July 3).”
“Enquiries are now ongoing to identify the suspects and locate the items. Anyone with information is asked to contact Shildon NPT on 101 quoting incident number 264 of July 4.”
