A major police operation which took place across Bishop Auckland recently, resulted in eight people being arrested.
More that 100 officers were involved in the early morning raids on five properties occupied by alleged heroin dealers.
The raids were the latest in a police operation called ‘Nimrod’, which aims to bring justice to dealers across the area. The four men and four women, all in their twenties and thirties, were arrested in houses in Cambridge Court, Langdale Walk, Cheesmond Avenue, Randolph Street, Coundon Grange and Princes Street, with one woman being brought from Low Newton Prison, where she was already in custody. During the operation, a small quantity of drugs was seized, as well as several mobile phones.
Head of the neighbourhood policing team, Inspector Martin Peace, said, “You either stop what you are doing or be prepared to get caught.”
