Edwin Hird, has released his latest book of ‘strange tales’, the fifth compilation of short stories from the Shildon author.
In this new collection of six stories showing strange situations, or perhaps normal happenings going in unexpected directions, the lead tale Technology vs The Witches tells of two ‘good’ witches who are instructed to assemble a team of non-magical people to stop two ‘bad’ witches causing chaos in the community.
In The Monastery, Professor Giles and three of his students are investigating the remains of an old monastery. They discover more than they expected.
In Best Served Cold, a ghost takes revenge on his murderers.
The Hospitals tell of a patient who can’t decide if he is dead or alive. This causes some of the nurses to be assigned to ‘special’ duties.
The Winter Wedding is the tale of nineteen-year-old Stephanie, who is left in charge of her brother, sister and cousins while the adults are away at a wedding. She tries out some thought experiments which get out of control.
And in the final tale, The Dark Side, Glen is brought out of retirement for a top secret moonshot. They warn him he might find strange things, but what he finds is stranger than anyone anticipated.
