Another three points, another four goals, and progress after a scare in the Durham Challenge Cup, all see Shildon maintain their unbeaten start on their return to the Northern League.
Perhaps the greatest surprise was that the leagueโs top scorer, Joe Posthill was, for once, not among the goals. Andrei Ardelean, on the other hand, notched another two to consolidate his place as the leagueโs second top scorer.
The Railwaymen travelled to Seaham on Saturday to a venue that will remain forever poignant in the minds of Shildon fans after the death of then director, John Hay during a match there in January 2013.
The players on the pitch did justice to his memory by opening the scoring through Arran Weamouth in the 11th minute before making certain of the win with three second half goals.
Ardelean collected the first of his brace on 52 minutes and made it 3-0 in the 72nd. David Vincent capped an emphatic second half with the final goal of a 4-0 win in the 85th minute.
It was then back to Dean Street on Tuesday night where Shildon played host to Jarrow in the First Round of the Durham Challenge Cup.
It looked very much like business as usual for the hosts, who took the opportunity to make several changes to the starting eleven, when Leighton Harris opened the scoring from the edge of the box in the 14th minute.
But the Second Division visitors were not to be cowed and levelled proceedings in the 39th minute through Lutfur Karim after an error left him with the simple task of scoring into an open goal.
The visitors then came within the width of the woodwork of taking the lead before Ben Reay broke the length of the pitch, played a one-two with Arran Wearmouth and coverted the winner in the 62nd minute.
Shildon host Newcastle Benfield in the league on Saturday, a side they knocked out of the FA Cup with a 0-3 away win in the Preliminary Round in August.
