Spennymoor Town Mayor, Cllr Derek Taylor, was delighted to present Ernest and Ann Foster with flowers and a card to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on 10th October.
Ernest, a former miner, Spennymoor Town Mayor and Chair of Durham County Council and Ann, a former worker at Thorn Lighting, first met at a dance hall in Spennymoor.
They have one son, Jonathan, and one grandchild.
The family celebrated together over an anniversary meal at The Green Tree in Tudhoe.
The Mayor said: “It has been a privilege catching up with Ernie and Ann today and celebrating what is a fabulous achievement.
“I wish them many more happy years to come.”
