Home Spennymoor Councillor elected AAP chairman

Councillor elected AAP chairman

Cllr Luke Allan Holmes will chair meetings of Spennymoor AAP.

Councillor Luke Allan Holmes has been elected Chairman of the Spennymoor Area Action Partnership. Cllr Holmes was elected to Durham County Council in May 2021 and served as the Vice Chairman of the AAP until the 2023 AGM.

Area Action Partnerships (AAPs) bring together members of the public, councillors, police and fire services, health services, housing providers, business owners, and voluntary organisations, to identify local priorities and take action to tackle them. AAPs also have access to funding from Durham County Council, which they allocate to local organisations to support development.

Cllr Holmes said: “As Chairman, my number one priority is to ensure we are reaching out to the unsung heroes in our area and offering support to further develop the amazing work local organisations do for our community every day.

“It’s clear that I have some very big shoes to fill, following on from De Hickson, but I can assure residents that I will do my best to make sure Spennymoor continues to develop, and the Council continues to deliver for local people.”
