Shortly after being elected to Durham County Council, Councillor Curtis Bihari got the ball rolling on the delivery of traffic calming measures outside Broom Cottages Primary School on Broom Road.
Cllr Bihari said: “This is a very dangerous road, especially with the school offset from the main road.
“Lots of drivers don’t realise the school is there and it has caused a number of incidents and near misses over the years.
“New rumble strips, road markings and signage will raise awareness that the school is approaching and encourage drivers to slow down.”
The project was funded from Cllr Bihari’s neighbourhood budget fund.
He added: “I am delighted to get this project complete. It has taken a while, but now every school in Ferryhill has some form of traffic calming outside, keeping our young people safe.
“I first pledged to do this during my election campaign and I’m very happy to deliver on that election promise.”
