Community Safety Group bag Sainsbury’s donation

Sainsbury’s Bishop Auckland has presented its local Shildon Community Safety Group with a Community Grant for £150.

This will help to fund a carousel event for the children of Shildon, enabling them to continue work in the town and to receive education on how to keep fit, keep healthy and keep safe.

The donation came about after the group wrote a letter asking for support to fund the cost of bottled water and healthy food for the event.

The Sainsbury’s Community Grant scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is funded by sales of ‘Bags for Life’. So for customers at Sainsbury’s Bishop Auckland buying a ‘Bag for Life’, this means that they are not only doing great things for the environment, but are also making a contribution to their local community.

Sainsbury’s Bishop Auckland Store Manager, Christine Jeffrey, said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about Shildon Community Safety Group, we were really pleased to be able to help out.”
