In recognition of the fact that a lot of local people will face hardship as result of the local business closures arising out of the emergency Covid 19 measures, Chilton Town Council have agreed to make an initial grant of £500 to Chilton Foodbank.
A spokesperson for the Town Council said: “The council made the decision during the week commencing 23rd March but have been waiting for assurances from the food bank head office that this funding will only be used for the benefit of Chilton Foodbank.
“The Council were pleased to receive this assurance on 2nd April.”
Chilton Foodbank is still open every Monday from 10am – 1pm at St Aidan’s Church Hall.
As well as dealing with those in need, any food donations can be dropped off at this time.
If you have food that you wish to donate but can’t deliver, during this time, contact Mike Morrison on 01325 301937 to make alternative arrangements.
