Chilton seniors celebrate Harvest Festival

Chilton Community Fund volunteers are all set to welcome one hundred local senior citizens to its second annual harvest festival.

On Saturday (12 October) Chilton Community Fund volunteer group held its annual Harvest Festival afternoon for the second year.

One hundred local senior citizens went along to enjoy live entertainment, a bingo, raffle, random ticket selection hampers and afternoon tea with unlimited hot beverages and a bag of groceries to take home at the end, ensuring a fantastic day was had by all.

The day’s volunteers were a mix of adults and children who all worked their socks off to make the day run smoothly.

This entire day is free of charge and therefore made possible by other events held throughout the year to fundraise, such as the Ultimate Ladies Night, held in May of this year, as well as the upcoming psychic night in November.

Volunteer, Anna Gray said: “A big thanks to Sainsbury’s local for huge food donations, Nerams & Lisa Buffet for sponsorship and to everyone who donated in support of this event.

“This year we had a feedback book and the comments are absolutely incredible, with comments left such as: ‘Another fantastic day, you have excelled this event from last year and we didn’t think that was possible’ and ‘Thank you so much for a fantastic afternoon everyone has been great and worked so hard all day, long may it continue’.

“Our aim is to keep this as an annual event, saying thanks and to give a little back to the elders of our community.

“Finally, we would like to say thank you to everyone for your continued support and we are already looking forward to bringing you future events for the people of Chilton to enjoy.”

Everyone received a bag of groceries to take home.
