A talented young performer from Chilton is set to take to the stage this summer after securing her dream role in one of the world’s most beloved musicals.
Adriana Irwin, a pupil at Chilton Academy, will star as Gavroche in Durham Musical Youth Theatre’s production of Les Misérables, which will be performed at Park View Theatre, Chester-le-Street, from July 20 to July 22.
For Adriana, playing the brave and spirited Gavroche is a dream come true. She has been performing from a very young age and has been under the tutelage of Kate Sorahan Turner since she was just four years old.
Over the years, Adriana has built an impressive list of stage credits, appearing in productions including Peter Pan, Seussical the Musical, We Will Rock You and many more. Her passion, dedication and talent have made her a familiar face on the local theatre scene, and she is thrilled to be taking on one of musical theatre’s most iconic young roles.
Durham Musical Youth Theatre provides weekly sessions for young people aged between 5 and 21. The organisation is dedicated to nurturing, educating and encouraging creative individuals, helping them to achieve the highest levels of success in the performing arts while building confidence and lifelong friendships.
Adriana will perform the role of Gavroche in the Tuesday and Wednesday evening performances of Les Misérables.
The production promises to be a spectacular showcase of young talent, bringing Victor Hugo’s timeless story to life through the unforgettable music of Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil.
