A charity golf competition is to be held in memory of a local man who was a popular and keen sportsman.
The Stewart Ramsay Memorial Challenge Trophy is also being held in aid of the Butterwick Hospice.
Two years ago Stewart Ramsey developed cancer and died at a very young age. During Mr Ramsay’s battle with the illness, he was offered respite care at Butterwick Hospice.
Lee Dunn, a friend of Stewart and his wife, Mandy, is organising the tournament, which will take place at Bishop Auckland Golf Club on Friday, June 26th.
The first Stewart Ramsay Memorial Challenge Trophy was held last year at Crook Golf Club, after Mr Dunn had discussed the idea of holding a memorial tournament with Mandy.
Last year’s event was very successful, with 16 teams taking part and valuable funds raised for the Butterwick Hospice.
Entry costs £150 for a team of four. Anyone interested in taking part in the event can sign up by contacting Lee Dunn direct on 07912 999419 or the Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland on 01388 603003.
