Two County Councillors for the Spennymoor Division have paid a visit to Byers Green, to meet up some members of the newly formed Byers Green Community Leek Club to listen to their aspirations for their club and the community after receiving a request from a villager to see if they could help.
On Friday, 13 May, both Councillors Pete Molloy and Liz Maddison went along to the Byers Green Club where the meeting was held and were impressed by the enthusiasm for the leek club to be a success. Cllr Molloy said, “Councillor Liz Maddison and I had recently been contacted by a resident of Byers Green, to see if we could help the newly formed Byers Green Community Leek Club get more established within the village.
“It was really good to meet those members present and to learn how community focused they want their club to be and we were able to give advice from committee structure to what the AAP will be looking for in an organisation from a funding grant application perspective.”
