Spennymoor Boxing Academy have secured two Tyne Tees and Wear victories in the school championships.
Annie Miller and Riley Lowery will box in the next round of the competition on Sunday 5th May.
Head coach Robert Ellis says: ‘Annie always prepares well for fights and we’re sure her extra running and top level of fitness will add to her crowd pleasing style and the abilities she already demonstrates.’
Neil Martin, who worked Riley’s corner alongside Gav McGee, added: ‘Riley boxed on the 21st April at Boldon Community Centre. He was matched against a more experienced opponent, Crowell Barton from Darlington ABC, who went all the way in the competition last year. Some may have seen Riley as the underdog, however he remained calm and focused, scoring with precise shots which led him to securing the win on a split decision. Well done to his opponent in a high quality close bout.’
The academy welcomes anyone that wants to come along and support their boxers.
