For the past 34 years, Spennymoor Boxing Academy has proudly supported the annual Poppy Memorial held in Spennymoor, reports Stephanie Ellis.
As a longstanding pillar of the community, we view this event as an opportunity to honour the sacrifices made by those who served our country while instilling values of respect, gratitude and remembrance in our young athletes.
Each year, members of our academy come together to lay a wreath at the memorial, representing not only our club but also the unity and appreciation of the wider community.
This tradition is deeply embedded in our ethos, helping both junior and senior members learn about and connect with the history that shaped their present.
Spennymoor Boxing Academy is more than just a gym. Our dedicated volunteer coaches work tirelessly to keep kids off the streets, channelling their energy into positive outlets through fitness and discipline.
By involving our boxers in the memorial, we emphasize the importance of community responsibility, teamwork and respect for those who paved the way for the freedom we enjoy today.
