Maximum points in their last three league outings, including the 0-4 trouncing of local rivals, West Auckland, and a place in the second round of the Durham Challenege Cup, where they will travel to Newton Aycliffe, could not be more perfect preparation for Bishop Auckland FC’s FA Vase tie, kicking off at 3pm at Heritage Park this weekend.
The Two Blues will host Northwich Victoria on a high from their midweek derby win, while their winning form also sees them climb back into second place in Northern League Division One, six points behind leaders Shildon, but with a game in hand.
Bishops midweek win came on the back of a narrow 0-1 win at Sunderland RCA last Saturday, where Ben Errington scored the decisive goal on 14 minutes.
Prior to that, a comfortable 4-1 win over Boldon CA made for progress in the County Cup while a 3-0 win over West Allotment Celtic set the side back on track after dropping three points at Heaton Stannington.
In a fiery game at the Wanted Stadium in midweek, Bishops, leading at the interval from a Gott penalty, took full control after the visitors went down to ten men when Joseph Hope was sent off in the 55th minute.
Gott converted his second spot kick in the 70th minute, while Marcus Giles (81) and Kieron Parnaby (89) wrapped up the points on a night which saw the referee’s cards waved 13 times.
