Award-winning Table Tennis Club, Bishop Auckland are celebrating after scooping the Junior Sports Club of the Year award at the County Durham Sport and Physical Activity Awards.
This means the club has completed a hat trick of club awards after winning National Table Tennis Club of the year back in March and local sports awards for Mid Durham and Dales last month.
This is the second time in three years that the club has earned the title, having won it back in 2013. The award-winning season saw the club finish a £30,000 hall renovation project at Bishop Barrington School giving them a national-standard training facility.
The club won the National Cadet League and National Junior League, both title-winning teams going unbeaten throughout the season. The club has over five primary feeder clubs and runs a further seven satellite clubs, including a Special Olympics club.
Chairman, Matt Porter said: “This award really means a lot to the club, as it is local people who nominate and local people who sit on the panel.
“It shows that the objectives of the club, offering the community pathways and opportunities to achieve in table tennis, are being met. The fact local people have picked us means they know the opportunities we provide and the achievements of members.”
BATTC are always looking for new players of all ages and abilities, along with engaging with community groups, schools and businesses. For more information visit www.bishopaucklandttc.co.uk or call Matt 07411 018856.
