Bike ride for Stroke Association

Richard and some of the group that will be taking part in the gruelling bike ride.

Richard Wearmouth contacted the Town Crier to tell us about a charity bike ride that he and a few of his friends are doing on 27 June in support of the Stroke Association.

Richard and another rider are both Shildonians.

“The ride is dedicated to raising money for the Stroke Association,” Richard explains.

“This cause is incredibly close to our hearts because my Mam, Jean Wearmouth who lives in Shildon, had a serious stroke last year.

“Her recovery has been, and continues to be, fantastic and the care she’s received has been truly amazing.

“We’re embarking on a cross-country mountain bike extravaganza!

“Expect plenty of ups and downs, especially tackling those Red Runs in Dalby Forest.

“We’ll definitely be celebrating with a drink or two when we reach our final destination of Scarborough.”
