The RSPCA is appealing to members of the public for help in catching those responsible for abandoning a bag of kittens outside Elm Road Workingmen’s Club.
A concerned member of the public contacted the animal welfare charity after making the discovery on Saturday 19th September when they heard the kittens crying.
Upon investigation they found a distinctive red ‘DFC Fuels’ sack, sealed closed with cable ties, containing three kittens around 4 weeks old- one of which was dead.
RSPCA Inspector Emma Stainthorpe attended the location and collected the kittens.
They were taken to a veterinary practice where the two live ones were hospitalised. They are now doing well and are currently in a foster home.
It would appear that the kittens were dumped between 4pm on Friday 18th and 12 noon on Saturday 19th September.

Emma commented, “It is sad that someone found it necessary to dump these kittens in such a way that it caused one to die. Sadly this is becoming more common.
“I would like to highlight to anyone thinking about getting a pet that they need to think about the responsibilities and financial burden that go along with owning an animal.
“Abandoning any animal in this way is an offence and is not acceptable.”
