Shildon runner Kate Avery is back home in the U.K celebrating her selection for team G.B in the European Cross Country Championships, which will take place next weekend.
Meanwhile on Saturday 30th November, Cameron Boyek continued his sparkling form this winter with victory in the Start Fitness North East Harrier League at Wallington Hall. Cameron took an impressive array of scalps to win in 34m 45s.
Over in the u13 boys, Ryan Watson ran well to complete the course in 19th position.
The u11 mixed race saw Chloe Fairclough finish 37th in 6m 33s. Lizzie Cramb, running from the fast pack, continued her excellent start to the season with the 3rd fastest time of the day in the u15 girl’s race.
The 1st December saw the NYSD League cross country take place at Croft.
The U11 girl’s race saw Chloe Fairclough compete in her 2nd xc of the weekend and this time she finished in 2nd place.
The u11 boys were represented by Adam Hanby, who came home in 20th position (9.01) and Harrison Daglish was 13th in the u15 boys.
Amy Etherington was 1st back in the junior women’s race with Liz Wood 2nd. The u17w saw Shannon Ross run well to claim 10th place and Hazel Johnson (35m 02s) and Helen Race (36m 26) competed well in the Senior Women’s category.
Blyth Sands was the venue for the senior group to return to action and Chris Griffith maintained his recent good form as the 1st Shildon runner back in 33m 29s, earning him 37th place.
David Beadle was next best in 40m 56s with Ian Rudge following him in 43m 47s. The trio rounded off the day with some ice therapy, taking a dip in the refreshing North Sea!
Completing a busy week for Shildon’s athletes, Hackworth Park run saw Chris Griffith once again record a new pb (21.26) on his way to a 2nd place finish. David Beadle finished just behind in 4th place and Ian Rudge (24.08) also recorded a new pb. Hazel Johnson was 1st female in 25m 54, Shannon Ross completed the Shildon contingent as she came home 2nd female in 26m 42s.
