Astrid shine at Disneyland Paris

The delighted Astrid Academy gymnasts returned home from Disneyland Paris with six medals.

Astrid Academy of Movement, a small local acrobatic gymnastics club based in Kirk Merrington School, took 20 gymnasts aged 9-22 years to their very first International competition in Disneyland Paris this October, and not only did they enjoy a great experience, they returned home with six medals, including two golds.

The gymnasts competed in multiple categories; groups, duets and solos, where they would be judged by professional judges who have participated in big events themselves such as Cirque du Soleil, House of Water and West End musicals.

The girls performed outstanding routines and stood out from the crowd with their intricate choreographies.

Hannah, their coach and choreographer said: “I am extremely proud of our girls for such incredible performances in Paris! Not only did they nail every single skill, but they performed their hearts out on that stage and enjoyed every single moment.

“The hard work the girls have put in over the last ten months, their commitment and dedication to training has been amazing to see. It just shows how much they love what they do.

“For a small club based in a school hall, this is an incredible experience and I will be forever proud of the team for such an achievement!

“The tears of joy when they announced the results, from both the team and myself, just said it all. A huge well done to this team, It’s such a great achievement for this local club. Team Astrid can’t wait for 2025, for even more competitions and hopefully more success.”
