The Andreas Ensemble, founded in 2005, continues to perform some of the greatest choral music of all time, including that of the great Renaissance composers like Byrd, Palestrina, Vittoria, Gibbons and others, but also music from other periods.
This chamber choir, which is located in Bishop Auckland, provides the chance to enjoy singing this superb music, an opportunity relatively rare outside college chapels and cathedrals.
The Ensemble is a friendly group, encompassing people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, who enjoy a good social life together in addition to their musical activity.
If you might be interested in singing with the Andreas Ensemble, have some ability to read music and have a reasonable choral voice, they would be delighted to hear from you.
They rehearse each Tuesday evening from 7.30pm to 9.15pm in St Mary’s RC Church, (near the baths), with a convivial tea break at around 8.20pm.
A spokesperson said: “Things you are invited to do: come along to a rehearsal and meet the gang (the biscuits are good!), Google our website for more information and live recordings of the choir.”
