Shildon AFC were at Ashington on Friday 4th April, where they produced one of their best displays of the season. Although it was only 2 – 0 to the Railwaymen, they controlled the game from the first whistle and could have won by a far greater margin. After 23 minutes Paul Connor blasted over from 6 yards out with the goal at his mercy, but two minutes later a classic four-man move was finished off in style by a left foot screamer from Lee Scroggins. Before the break Paul Connor found Ben Wood who fired over when he could have done better. Half Time: Ashington 0 Shildon AFC 1.
Immediately after the break it was 2 – 0 for Shildon when Darren Richardson’s long range drive beat keeper Karl Dryden. Shildon looked comfortable on the ball, passing it around with ease. They gave Ashington very few scoring opportunities with only No 4 Leon Carling able to test Shildon’s keeper Lewis Graham.

After the match manager Gary Forrest said, “Another good win. I thought we dominated the play from start to finish. We have to win our last five games and hope that the other teams loose points, to give us a chance of the league. Tonight however, we were excellent”.
