Ambassadors for Community Change in Ferryhill and POW Ambassadors, who help keep Ferryhill cleaner and safer, have distributed 2,000 free dog poo bags to the community.
Glenys from Approach Too said: “Ferryhill Ambassadors have noticed the amount of dog poo on pavements and in parks has increased over the past few months.
“One of the things children tell us is they are happiest when they are outside playing with friends, but one of the things that spoils this for them is dog mess.
“So to encourage dog owners to be responsible, the Ambassadors are giving pupils who own a dog, free dog poo bags to take home.
“They have also made sure their dog poo bag dispensers outside the schools are filled.
“Please only take one bag as you need it and please dispose of the bags in the bins and not in bushes or shrubs.
“Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the community clean and safe for your children.”
