The Bishops Shop in Newgate Street, which displays the full history of Bishop Auckland FC from 1886 has welcomed a 1935 BAFC Amateur Cup-winning medal to their collection.
The medal was donated by Cathy Robertshaw and belonged to her grandfather Raymond Bryan who played in the side that beat Wimbledon at Wembley in the 1934/5 season.
“This is absolutely fantastic,” said Bishop Auckland FC chairman, Steve Coulthard, “and is a major addition to the great collection of memorabilia at the shop. We would like to express our deepest thanks to Cathy for this amazing donation.
“The shop is run by volunteers and relies on donations and merchandise sales to help with costs. Please support the shop, which is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.”
The shop also tells the history of and displays photos and memorabilia from many other local clubs that are no longer in existence, keeping their memory alive.
