As Mayor of Shildon I wanted to share my ongoing pride to represent everyone in Shildon and all with family ties to the Town around the world.
There continues to be many challenges facing families and those living alone of which Shildon Town Council continually work, with partners, to meet the needs of those in crisis. I hope that we can all be a little kinder and care for those around us.
During my year as Mayor, I have hosted and attend many events around the area, promoting Shildon. I have met with local children in the Primary Schools and had excellent debating and information sessions. I have attended Redworth House Nursing Home, Byerley Road Play School, Jubilee Fields Community Centre, the Churches, Locomotion, as well as events in the park and the Town Square. All were a great opportunity to talk to people of all ages.
I would personally like to thank everyone who volunteer their time and commitment in supporting others. Many activities would not happen without you. I get a great deal of satisfaction from the voluntary work that I do, and I would recommend it especially if you time to spare or want to help others.
I have also awarded several very special people who give their time, organise fund raising or support others. All deserved the recognition, and all were very humbled. We are truly blessed to have so many great people making a real difference around the Town.
Globally the world faces many challenges and dangers. I would like to thank the Armed Services both currently serving and retired for the work that they do to keep us safe. I pray for peace and goodwill around the world. Thank you also to the amazing NHS, Police, Fire and Ambulance Services who are always there for us in our hour of need.
I hope you all find time to enjoy Christmas with your family but spare a thought for those who are alone or struggling in anyway.
