On the 29 May, Eric Stapleton from Newton Aycliffe, Michael Fitzgerald and Michael Brown from Shildon completed a 100 mile London to Essex charity ride to raise much needed funds for Mind, the Mental Health Charity.
The event saw 20,000 plus cyclists riding through the closed roads of London, moving onto Essex, then returning and finishing on Tower Bridge.
They completed the 100 mile ride in 7 hours and 7 minutes, well under the allocated time of 8 hours.
The group said, “It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, chatting with many cyclists en route from all walks of life raising money for many charities. Mind is a great charity with a fantastic website. They provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
“We would like to thank everybody who sponsored us for the kind support messages and well-wishers.”
They managed to raise a staggering £3170 for the charity.
