Shildon Alive, A Saint John’s Church Community Project, teamed up with Shildon Health Express staff to offer free family gardening and cooking sessions over the Easter break.
Twenty-five children of all ages took part in the gardening session along with their parents and enjoyed planting sunflowers and vegetables, as well as decorating plant pots and playing games organised by Lucy Mann, Saint John’s youth worker, at Furnace community garden.
The young people who took part in the cooking session, held at Saint John’s Church, made a healthy meal before enjoying a table tennis competition.
