The Ferryhill Banner Group is holding its first fund raising event of the year for Ferryhill Town Band on Saturday 19 March at the Surtees Arms public house in Chilton Lane, Ferryhill.
The Very Big Quiz Night will begin at 8pm and teams of up to six people are encouraged to go along for a fun evening.
“The Banner Group have been given the go-ahead from the Durham Miners’ Association that the Durham Miners’ Gala will definitely happen this year,” revealed supporter, Peter Atkinson, “so it’s all systems go in raising funds to support our Ferryhill Town Band.
“The money raised helps pay for transport to the Big Meeting for the band and our supporters, and not forgetting refreshments for everyone after the event.”
Under the direction of musical director, Tom Maddison, the band performs concerts and competes at various competitions within the North East and neighbouring regions, as well as attending the Durham Miners’ Gala every year.
