The Bay Horse in Bishop Auckland’s Fore Bondgate, well known for its dog-friendly atmosphere, recently hosted a special event dedicated to man’s best friend, reports Yvonne Hawkey.
The Woof Woof Dog Day, organised by landlady Zara Lawlor, successfully raised over £300 for the Darlington branch of the Dogs Trust charity.
The event featured a fun-filled day for dogs and their owners, including a small agility course and a variety of competitions and numerous doggie treats.
Categories such as ‘Best Puppy,’ ‘Prettiest Bitch’ and ‘Old Timer’ saw many proud pooches receiving awards and prizes.
Founded in 1891, Dogs Trust works tirelessly for a better future for dogs and the people who love them.
In 2023 alone, the organisation cared for 13,374 dogs through its 22 centres across the UK and Ireland, rehoming 10,588 of them.
Besides rehoming, they also offer dog school classes and dog safety workshops for children, among other initiatives.
Landlady Zara Lawlor, said: “The Dogs Trust is such an important charity to me as they do such a marvellous job.
“I’m proud that we managed to raise over £300 at our dog event for them and I want to thank everyone who came along and contributed. It was such a lot of fun!”
