Shildon AFC laid their home results bogey to rest by progressing in the FA Vase, but only after losing star striker Andrei Ardelean to a straight red card in the opening minutes and missing two penalties against Yarm and Eaglescliffe. But goals from Elliot Day and another converted penalty by Jordan Cook saw off the Division Two side.
In midweek the side continued their fine away form with a 0-1 win at Newcastle Blue Star, with weekend villian, Ardelean turning hero with the game’s only goal.
This weekend Shildon host North Shields and remain at home for a midweek fixture against third place Blyth Town who are two points ahead of the fifth place Railwaymen.
