Weardale Railway has successfully completed its Waybeams Renewal Project, marking a significant milestone for the heritage railway company.
The project, which commenced on 26 February, has been finished ahead of schedule, ensuring smooth operations in time for the Easter holidays.
Wayne Dixon, General Manager of Weardale Railway, expressed his gratitude towards everyone involved: “This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of our Track Maintenance team and Civil Engineer, Trevor Horner,” he said.
The Waybeams Renewal Project aims to enhance safety and reliability along the railway line, ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience for passengers.
Wayne also acknowledged the invaluable support from MH Southern for supplying the new waybeams, emphasising their crucial role in the project’s success.
Now passengers can once again enjoy scenic train journeys, including travel to Bishop Auckland and other destinations served by the railway.
