Members of the team delivering Northumbrian Water’s new £155m water mains upgrade paid a visit to Shildon Alive recently.
The water company is currently working with Farrans Construction on the first phase of a new 57km pipeline, which includes connections to an underground reservoir near West Auckland Road.
At Christmas, the team raffled a large Christmas hamper, raising £185 for Shildon Alive.
The recent visit gave a chance for the Shildon Alive team to learn more about the project and how it will benefit water supplies in the area, by adding resilience to the local network.
Karen Alexander, Farrans Construction’s Community Business Partner, who is supporting the local community while the work takes place, said: “It was great to call in and meet the team at Shildon Alive, following the Christmas donation. They were really interested in hearing about the project and, in return, learning more about what Shildon Alive do, and how hard they work to support people across the town who are struggling financially.
“My visit was both eye-opening and heart-warming.”
