Earlier this year, Tudhoe Methodist Church received a Civic Pride grant to revitalise the forecourt of the church in Front Street, Tudhoe with a view to creating a community space, writes Janet Richardson.
Raised beds and numerous colourful planters have now brightened the garden.
People were invited to bring a plant in memory of a loved one to add to the raised beds during a short outdoor service and the garden is now open for anyone to sit on the benches and enjoy the space.
Consequently, the church was entered into the Northumbria in Bloom awards held in Gateshead in the “It’s your neighbourhood“ category and received a level 3 award and very positive feedback.
