The first meeting of a Bishop Auckland town centre business group, which was set up in order for local managers to discuss issues which affect the town, took place recently.
The meeting was attended by managers from Boots, Greenwoods, Marks and Spencer, the Newgate Centre, Trimmers Hairdressers, Westgate Stores and Wilson Veterinary Group.
Several others have also declared an interest to be involved in future meetings. At the previous meeting, the current trading conditions were on the agenda, as was the development of marketing material to target potential businesses, and seasonal marketing campaigns.
The group, set-up with the Bishop Auckland Town Centre Forum, was organised by Bishop Auckland Town Centre Manager, Steve McCormick, and is to be chaired by Paul Wilson of Wilson Veterinary Group in Tenters Street.
Mr McCormick, said, “There has been great enthusiasm for the group when I started to contact traders.
“Traders feel there is a need for a group to meet to discuss issues that affect the town centre and to have the opportunity to influence the way forward for the town centre.”
The Group agreed to meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 10.00am in the Town Centre Manager’s office in Old Bank Chambers in the Market Place. This month’s meeting, however, has been postponed until Tuesday, April 21st at the same time and location.
