Spennymoor Town Mayor, Councillor Liz Maddison with Consort Councillor Clive Maddison visited Spennymoor Youth and Community Centre in May to cut a ribbon and officially open Spennymoor Youth and Community Centre’s Community Pantry.
Alongside Vita Staples from Newcastle Building Society, which grant funded the works to build the pantry space, and members of Kingdom Culture Church who generously sponsor the project, the official opening was a chance to thank the Centre’s volunteers who give their time to run it.
The Community Pantry sells low cost groceries, toiletries and household cleaning products to help Spennymoor families and residents with the cost of living.
The Pantry is open Mondays 1.30pm until 2.30pm, Thursdays 11.30pm until 12.30pm and on request when the centre is open.
The Centre is appealing for donations of long life groceries, toiletries and household cleaning products to keep the pantry well stocked. Donations can be dropped off at the Centre Monday to Friday.
