Tickets are now on sale for Spennymoor Stage and Song’s performance of the award-winning West End musical Kinky Boots taking place at Spennymoor Town Hall between Wednesday 13 and Saturday 16 May.
The musical is based on the 2005 British film Kinky Boots written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth.
It premiered as a stage musical in 2012 in Chicago, with the music and lyrics written by 80’s American pop icon, Cyndi Lauper.
Set in the UK, Kinky Boots is a musical based on true events about Charlie Price, who inherits his father’s failing Northampton shoe factory.
To save the business and his employees from unemployment, Charlie teams up with Lola, a cabaret drag queen, to produce sturdy, high-heeled “kinky boots” for drag artists, finding success, friendship, and self-acceptance.
Known for its dazzling, high-energy choreography and elaborate colourful costumes, Michael Brabbs takes on the role of Charlie Price, whilst Liam Goodman is cast in the other lead role of Lola.
Additional lead cast members include Faye Rodgerson as Charlie’s fiancée Nicola, Heather Whitfield as factory worker Lauren, Craig Daley as tough factory foreman Don and Ian Patterson who plays dependable factory manager George.
Producer Liam Etherington said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing Kinky Boots come to life on the Town Hall stage.
“We’ve been working really hard since January in rehearsals and it’s shaping up to be another amazing show following on from Sister Act The Musical last year”.
Spennymoor Stage and Song Chairperson, De Hickson added: “We’re proud to have been bringing amateur theatre to audiences in Spennymoor for over 100 years.
