Year 10 Business Studies students recently welcomed James Piatt, a professional magician from ‘The Magic Corner’ in Durham City, to Ferryhill School. James visited to provide students with a valuable insight into the business as part of their preparation for the BTEC Enterprise PSA.
During the session, James spoke about his career journey and how he became a professional magician, giving students an interesting perspective on the skills, opportunities and challenges involved in running a successful entertainment business. To conclude the visit, James delivered an engaging 30-minute magic show.
One student said, “I thought the show was awesome and James is an excellent magician who was also funny! The show has inspired me to try some magic tricks myself”.
Several students had the opportunity to take part by shuffling cards and assisting with props during the performance. The show was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved, and many students commented that they would be keen to visit ‘The Magic Corner’ with their families in the coming weeks.
Miss Gibson, who organised the visit said, “Providing students with the opportunity to hear directly from entrepreneurs is incredibly valuable in helping them understand different pathways to success. James was an excellent guest speaker who inspired our students and offered a fascinating insight into his career journey and his passion for magic.”
