A guided walk will be taking place around Shildon which will coincide with the Great Goodbye event at Locomotion. The walk will be led by voluntary countryside ranger Ian Gray and will take place on Sunday 16th February from 10.30am. The 8 mile walk, which will take around four-and-a-half hours, will begin in the Village Hall car park, Walkers Lane, at the east end of Middridge and will include a stop at Locomotion to see the Mallard and its five surviving sister Locomotives together for the last time. Ian will also cover topics such as local history and geology.
The cost is £4 for all walkers, although under 5s and carers accompanying a disabled person are free. A family ticket (2 adults and up to 3 children under 12) is £10. There is no need to book, simply turn up to take part.
A packed lunch will be needed.
