The winner of this summer’s Spennymoor Gala window competition was Solan Connor Fawcett Cancer Trust Superstore, which is located at 3 High Street, Spennymoor.
Recently, the Town Mayor and his consort presented staff from the store with their prize cheque for £100, which was donated to St Paul’s food bank.
The Town Mayor, consort and the gala committee said that the superstore window beautifully supported the 2024 theme – Carnival of Colour – with a vibrant and creative design that brightened up the town centre.
Jill Chatt, the store’s retail manager, said: “We were thrilled to be this year’s winners, all our volunteers worked really hard to create a window display for everyone to enjoy.
“To give back to another charity was a great thing to be able to do.
“Nobody should deal with cancer alone and we thrive to help all warriors, bereaved warriors and family affected who need our support.”
To continue with this vital support, the trust is looking for volunteers who can help with sales within the store, and donation processing within their centre. Full training will be given.
Jill added: “We are also looking for good quality furniture, clothing, handbags and in particular, mens clothing.”
