Are you a teacher or retired teacher interested in travelling to Russia to teach English classes at Easter?
Durham County Council’s international relations team is leading a mission to Kostroma, Durham’s twin town, in April to visit local schools, help Russian teachers with English classes and deliver English lessons to students of various ages and abilities.
Attendees will have to pay for their own airfare and visa processing but they will stay with Russian host families for the duration of the stay.
Kostroma is 250 miles north of Moscow and has been twinned with Durham since 1968. Durham County Council has organised many school, cultural and educational exchange visits with the Education Development Institute in Kostroma for several years.
Brian Stobie, international officer with Durham County Council said: “Teachers who have taken part in this exchange in the past have considered it to be a really memorable and worthwhile experience.
“It gives teachers in our county the opportunity to discover more about Russian culture and the city of Kostroma, while the young students and their tutors gain valuable experience”.
Anybody interested in taking part should contact the international relations office on 03000 268 501 or email lucy.turzynski@durham.gov.uk.
