Blade Taekwondo, located at Bishop Middleham Village Hall, recently underwent a big club fundraising event by hiking to the summit of Roseberry Topping. The aim of the event was to raise some club funds through sponsors from the members taking part.
“While this will help the club generate funds for future projects for members, the real idea of the day was to just get as many members involved, and have an amazing adventure as part of an amazing family community,” said lead instructor Corey Wilson.
Members of Blade set off on their adventure one weekend last month, and under the supervision of Corey and other officials from Blade, they reached the top in no time. Along the way they made great memories, and had a great time at the summit.
“Although it was a bit foggy, we still had a great day out,” said Corey. “Funds are still being taken in by members, and so far we’ve received a great deal of sponsor money,” he added, “which we plan to use to either host a Team GB Olympics day/night at the hall, watching some of the Taekwondo fights, along with food and refreshments, or simply save up for some amazing new equipment and facilities – or perhaps both.
“Once again, Blade has proven to not only be a great and talented martial arts group, but an amazing community by helping one another on the day and having great fun with some quality laughs.
“We are very proud of what we’ve built and we will continue to grow.”
Blade TKD plan to continue this as an annual event, by majority decision of its members, not necessarily as a fundraiser, but just as a great get together and a family day out.
