For the second year in succession, a Sunderland-based Quantity Surveying company’s staff have donated a large number of supplies to the Shildon foodbank, operated by Durham Foodbank and based at the Salvation Army.
Peter Hardy, a Salvation Army volunteer who assists at the foodbank said: “We are very thankful to Identity Consult’s staff for all the support they give us at this time of year.
“While the need is still there, our aim is to fill that need. It’s important to remember that the foodbank is open all year round and all donations are gratefully accepted.
“We wish everyone a truly special Christmas and a great New Year.
Identity Consult’s Managing Director, David Dent, is Shildon-born and sees the success of his company as an opportunity to give something back to his home town.
The company also founded, and continues to support, the Shildon AFC Development Centre, which now offers football coaching to in excess of 200 youngsters.
Around thirty members of staff at Identity Consult collected supplies from family members as well as making their own contribution resulting in thirty large bags being donated.
The collection was organised by Financial Controller and Office Manager, Beverley Reece who said: “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of my colleagues, friends and family who have donated so much food for this worthy cause.
“We look forward to continuing to support where we can.”
Managing Director, David Dent said: “I grew up in Shildon and have retained an involvement with the town. Our support with this initiative is just another way of putting something back into a frontline service where hopefully some less fortunate than ourselves will not have to make the decision between heating or food; maybe now they can have both.”
