Spennymoor once again left it late as substitutes Adam Boyes and Mark Anderson ended Leamington’s unbeaten home record, and in the process, leapfrogged The Brakes into eighth place.
A dull contest looked set to finish goalless, but after Jason Ainsley introduced Boyes and Anderson, Moors took advantage of a tiring Leamington side.
On an afternoon of light rain and blustery winds, the game got off to a quiet and scrappy start, with both sides struggling to get into their rhythm.
The home side, who were sixth at the beginning of play, started the brighter with Jack Edwards firing wide.
Rob Ramshaw and Glen Taylor combined shortly after the quarter hour as Moors created their first chance, but the latter could only direct a tame effort straight at Leamington keeper, Tony Breedan.
The Brakes responded and hit the post in unusual fashion from a long free-kick minutes later.
The second half followed the pattern of its predecessor, with a cluster of cheap fouls spoiling the fluidity of the contest, and chances were few and far between.
Stenson and Callum Gittings came the closest for the home side, while Shaun Tuton came close to his first goal for the Moors when he fired just over.
With a spark required, Ainsley introduced Anderson and Boyes, who had come off the bench earlier in the season to score against FC United of Manchester, and the rewards were instant.
With four minutes to play, Taylor collected the ball on the right wing, and after looking up, spotted Boyes on the six-yard line. The substitute met his cross with a first-time volley which went in via a flick from the post.
With their confidence shattered, Leamington went in search of an equaliser, but Taylor won the ball on the halfway line and Moors broke forward.
Breedan denied Taylor before reacting superbly to stop Boyes from doubling his personal account, but he couldn’t get in the way of Anderson’s shot which went in via the bar.
