As part of its extensive engagement programme with local primary and secondary schools and colleges, The Auckland Project (TAP) is offering a one-off opportunity for students to visit its new Christmas light trail, AGLOW.
Working with its long-standing educational partners to identify students who have made significant progress or achieved impressive results in art and design, religious education and history subjects, the selected students will be offered the opportunity to visit the one-and-a-half-mile long Christmas trail on a special preview evening on Monday 20th November.
The students will receive tickets for themselves and three guests, to see Auckland Castle in a whole new light, with stunning projections on the Castle walls and glowing rainbow-hued spheres of light covering the bowling green.
A sparkling 100-metre-long tunnel leads into the parkland, where large-scale illuminations will dazzle guests with lasers, neon ropes, mirror balls, LED vines and starburst trees.
Richard Hinch, head of learning at TAP, said: “As a regeneration charity and site of historical importance, it’s always been The Auckland Project’s duty to help educate and nurture the next generation.
“To support students, we have an extensive schools’ engagement prgramme. Hundreds of educational institutions visit our museums, galleries and castle every year and we tailor every single visit according to the class curriculums and interests.
“Religion, art and history are key pillars to The Auckland Project and for years we’ve been supporting schools with visits, workshops and different tasks to challenge students and help them experience the subjects first hand, which is great for students of all different abilities.”
Jared Bowers, chief operations officer at TAP, added: “AGLOW is The Auckland Project’s first exciting venture into a large-scale Christmas event, so naturally there’s a lot of interest from people of all ages.”
AGLOW Christmas Trail takes place from 22 November to 31 December (excluding Christmas Day) and entry times are at 30-minute intervals from 4:30pm – 8:30pm each day. Visitors are advised to allow 1.5 hours to complete the trail.
Tickets are £21.50 for adults, £14.50 for children or £66.50 for families (consisting of one adult and three children, or two adults and two children.) Children aged 2 and under enter for free.
The Auckland Project Annual Pass Holders receive 20% discount on the ticket prices.
