Stagepoint Studio is rounding off the year in style after 24 young performers took part in two separate end-of-term shows at the Shildon Railway Institute, marking the theatre school’s first official term in its new home.
The growing performing arts school, founded by professionally trained actor Jarone Macklin-Page, welcomed students across its 5–11 and 11–16 age groups for a six-week Christmas term that saw both ensembles develop and perform their own original productions.
The term follows Stagepoint Studio’s earlier success with its fully booked Railway Stories project, but this was the first full programme delivered inside the historic Railway Institute, something Jarone described as “a milestone” for the studio.
“The children created two completely different shows, each reflecting their own ideas and strengths,” Jarone said. “To see them step out with such confidence, especially in just six weeks, has been incredibly rewarding. Their teamwork, imagination and growth have been a real joy to watch.”
With the Christmas term now complete, Stagepoint Studio has officially opened bookings for its new 12-week Spring Term, starting 11 January 2026. This will be the studio’s first full-length term at the Railway Institute, bringing even more opportunities for young people in Shildon and the wider County Durham community.
And 2026 will see Stagepoint Studio grow even further.
From January, the studio will also be offering:
- 1:1 LAMDA exam preparation in Acting and Public Speaking
- Private acting coaching for young people and adults
- A new 16+ performance group, supporting those considering drama school, creative careers, or simply wanting to develop confidence
- A dedicated Home Education Drama Programme, providing daytime sessions designed specifically for home-educated learners
Jarone says these additions reflect the needs of local families:
“Parents have been asking for more opportunities, especially private lessons, LAMDA support, and something consistent for home-educated children. We’re building Stagepoint Studio to be a place where young people of all ages can grow in confidence, creativity and community.”
The studio’s ethos, centred on helping young people find their voice through supportive, inclusive creative practice, has resonated strongly with local families, with classes booking quickly.
“Our focus is always the same,” Jarone added. “Create a space where young people feel valued, encouraged and safe. When that happens, everything else follows.”
Bookings for the January term, as well as enquiries for LAMDA coaching, private lessons and the home-education programme, are now open. Spaces are limited and early booking is recommended.
