St Mary’s Teams in Action

The St. Marys youth football teams played 17 games last weekend, amassing 12 wins and 5 losses.

The Under 16’s gained an excellent 1-0 win away at 21st Allstars B team, who are 2nd in the league. The Under 14 A’s played away at Mount Pleasant and went top of the league, after winning 2-1. The Under 14 B’s also went top of the league, with a 5-1 win at Trimdon.

The Under 13’s lost 6-1 against Teeside Athletic, whilst the Under 12’s C team won 4-2 against Greatham. The Under 12 B’s played 2 games over the weekend, starting with a cup quarter final against Leven, which Leven won 7-2.

The second game was an away league game at Coulby Newham and St. Mary’s won 7-2 to stay top. On Saturday, the Under 12’sA team played Stokesley B at home and won the game 3-1. On Sunday, the ‘A’ team played away in the local derby at Ferryhill Town, the game ended 4-1 to Saint Mary’s.

Saint Mary’s Under 10’s A won Billingham 1-0, a week after going down to them 1- 0 in an away match. In the second game, Saintswon 3-2 with a left footed brace from Hewitt and a cracker from Taylor. The Under 8,s drew 0-0 with league leaders Newton Aycliffe SC. St. Mary’s Under 10’s and Under 12’s girls’ sides also played at the weekend and
both sides kept clean sheets.

In a remarkable game, St. Mary’s won 11-0 with Emily Scarr and Sophie Wood scoring 5 goals each. In their second game of the weekend, the Under 10’s won 6-0 against Birtley Town, with Samantha Moody picking up the man-of-the match award.

The girls’ Under 12s had a mixed weekend, losing their first match 1-0 to Peterlee Helford United. In their second game, they beat Washington 2-0.
