St. Marys Under 14A’s won 7-0 against Ferryhill to win the second division championship with goals from Cameron Wilkinson 3, Bret Upton, Jonathon Brown, Lee Gilbey, and Aiden Warburton.
The Under 12A’s also won promotion with a very exciting 3-2 win last week against California Boys with goals from Lewis Scarr, Jake Findlay and Jake Dixon.
As well as reaching the cup final, the Under 16’s have also gained promotion after a 6-1 home win over North Ormesby.
The final score ensured St. Mary’s the runners up spot, and as well as a trip to the Tall Trees presentation night, the U16’s have the League Cup final against div. 1 winners Norton & Stockton, followed by a trip to the Barcelona Junior Cup in July.
The team has managed to raise over £6,000 to help pay for their trip and are having a final push of fundraising to get the £8,250 needed to fund the trip for 15 players.
On Sunday the U12B played their final match of the season against New Marske at home and won 3-0, all the goals were scored by Matty Penal.
This result means that the team has gone all season without defeat in the league, scoring 99 goals and conceding only 18.
Manager, Dave Willoughby, thanked all of the coaches and parents of the team for their continued support. Before saying, “a big well done to all the players,a fantastic season”.
The Under 12’s Angels vs East Durham ended in a 1-1 draw. The St. Mary’s goal was scored by Anna Colwell. In the other Under 12’s Angels match, the girls bagged a two-nil victory over Washington.
St Marys Under 8’s drew 0 – 0 with Darlo 21st Allstars to finish as joint runners-up in Division 1.
A club official said, “A special mention must go to all of the boys for their attitude in a season where they lost only once in the league and conceded only 6 goals ,and in the friendly afterwards, they lost only twice. Well Done Lads!”
