St Mary’s Under 12 Aces had a very exciting game against Greatham, and after going in at half-time 4-2 down they came back to win 7-5, with two of the goals going into the ‘goals of the season’ category. The scorers were Aaron Willoughby (3), Luke Penberthy (2), Tom Aldsworth and Cameron Martin.
The U9 Kings also had a fantastic 1-0 win away at Darlington Youth with Luke Mitchell getting the all important goal with Joseph Johnson MOM.
The U12 Kings lost 1-0 in a very close game against Tibs with Oliver Lamb MOM.
The U13s had their last league game of the season against Norton & Stockton and had a great 4-2 victory, with goals from Carl Stout, Zak Holywell (2) and Callum Thomson and finished in a very respectable 4th place. The match was a dress rehearsal for the league cup final to be held on May 18th at Hurworth, Boro’s Training Ground.
The U15s lost against Stockton in their final game of the season, but manager Sean Oyston is looking forward to welcoming two or three new players for next year along with coach Darren Tait.
The U16s had an exciting 4-4 draw at home to Whinney Banks with goals from Henry Cooke, M. Brown, Kyle McGurk and Dagan Taylor. “With the season drawing to a close and just a handful of games left for the 17 teams, we are hoping to increase it back up to 19 teams next season with new girls’ teams and two new U7s teams, with thanks to new managers coming through the ranks Graham Bowes and Chris Gill,” said a spokesperson.
Five teams having cup finals to look forward to at Hurworth on May 18th and May 10th for the Angels. The club also has the World Cup Club Tournament to look forward to for all age groups on World Cup Final weekend (12/13th July) at Bishop Auckland College.
The Chairman’s fundraising Kilimanjaro Charity Climb has now been confirmed with Phil Thomson – Sky Sports and Liverpool – and comic Brendan Healey. The event will take place on Friday 27th June at £20 per ticket, which are available by contacting Steve Coulthard 07968 426817 or Graham Sheldon at Etheringtons Newsagents.
