The community turned out in numbers for the Spennymoor Christmas Tree Light Switch On and Town Hall Christmas Table Top Fair at the end of last month.
The Mayor, Cllr Ian Geldard, and Santa joined forces to flip the festive light switch for everyone who attended to dance to music from the Spennymoor Town Band and enjoy entertainment provided, which included rides for the children.
Cllr Geldard said: “Once the Spennymoor tree lights are lit it feels like the countdown to Christmas has properly begun.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came out to take children to Santa’s Grotto, visit the Christmas Table Top Fair and enjoy the early evening’s festivities around the Christmas tree.
“Myself and everyone at Spennymoor Town Council would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
